How amazing would it be if you could look at the aging process with carefree joy and expectancy? The concept of aging gracefully, or in my case, disgracefully, teaches us to accept ourselves as we age. We learn to live with a real sense of purpose by letting go of what the rest of society deems appropriate for what we should be doing. Aging is inevitable for us all, so why not just embrace it and forget about what others think?
Reversing The Ageing Process
I have begun at 67 the journey of turning back the clock by reversing the aging process myself.
I start every day off by reinforcing my mind that
- I am strong, powerful, and fabulous, even if I wake up with the odd ache or pain.
- I watch what I put in my body and listen to it when I make a mistake or overdo something.
- I am a vegan and drink one glass of red wine every day, not to get high but because it is full of antioxidants and good for me.
- I walk in nature, meditate, and I am mindful that I am here with gratitude.
- I am what I think. I am what I eat. I am what I deserve. I am what I am.
Aging Gracefully
In this youth-obsessed society, I am confident with the idea of wisdom being more powerful than ignorance. I am happy with my natural smile lines, over the idea of a wind-tunneled face from putting dangerous chemicals in my body, like Botox. I spend my time balancing wisdom with wonder and confidence with curiosity. Basically, I think like a young person, dress like a young person, and believe I am still a young person but without behaving like one.
It is true that age is just a number, and we can choose to see this number as a ticking time bomb or we see this number as insignificant, it really is all about choice. I believe we are all made up of powerful energy healing session that never ages or dies, only the body dies.
This energy, if indestructible, can shine through and distract anyone looking at you from thinking about your age; it is called your spirit. When people say they want to be younger, they usually mean they want to look like their younger selves but often don’t want to lose the growth and wisdom they have gained.
Being Confident In Your Own Skin
Liking how you look is a massive factor to consider when it comes to the aging process. If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you are happier. So be mindful to take care of not only your mind but how you look and feel. When you are mindful, people find you charismatic and attractive at any age, and I am living proof of this.
Your life is a journey and not a destination, so never focus on your years; put more focus on what you love about life. Find something that really makes you happy, and go for it with every bone in your body and every ounce of positive energy you have inside.
How To Cope With Change
Coping with any change is difficult for us all to face. It is natural to feel the losses you experience; however, by balancing your sense of loss with the positive idea of gain, you remain healthy and reinvent yourself as you pass through the aging landmarks and beyond. The truth is we are stronger and more resilient than we think we are.
Once again, it is the mind playing tricks, influencing how we feel about our age. There are no rules when it comes to what is acceptable in your own life. You are the captain of your ship, so stay firm on course and sail into the sunset with your head held high, grateful you are still alive and kicking.
