Have you ever had a moment of sudden inspiration or recognition? Basically, when you finally get it. The light bulb suddenly goes on in the darkness of complete confusion and suddenly, without doubt, you just know what to do. It is a bit like watching a movie, when the main character has an epiphany moment and realizes something so profound, that it changes everything and redirects their life. This is exactly what happened to me after my near-death experience only, I was not a character in a movie; I was a real person with real problems.
My Epiphany – A Near-Death Experience
I have discovered since my own epiphany, that they are very rare occurrences and often follow a process of deep thought about a problem. Before I had my near-death experience, five years prior, I had lost millions on the stock market and this led me to almost commit suicide when overloaded with a huge tsunami of uncontrollable feelings. Thankfully my suicide attempt failed, and I recovered enough to pick myself up and start again.
When I woke up after drinking almost a bottle of tequila and taking a handful of pills, I walked down my road, sat calmly on the beach, and watched the sunrise. It was like an out-of-body experience. I had this incredible feeling of shame for even considering such a drastic, stupid emotional attack on my precious life. Watching the huge red sunrise above the perfectly straight black line in the ocean, slowly getting bigger and bigger until dawn broke, made me feel so insignificant. It was at this moment I got my light bulb moment, suddenly recognizing my old materialistic life had collapsed because I had lost all connection with what was truly important in life. The power of nature and its incredible, reliable beauty vaccinated me with a massive dose of gratitude. I was alive, and everything was going to be ok.
My Eureka Moment
This eureka moment, my burst of genius, and the insight gained from such an amazing experience pushed my brain into problem-solving mode, away from the damaging reality of attempted suicide. I suddenly knew without doubt my life was way more important and precious than anything else. I was part of that huge sunrise, rising out from the darkness. I was part of something so much greater than me. This kind of mind creativity is not limited to only geniuses because in the right circumstances and with the right mindset, we are all capable of lightbulb moments that change our lives. We are all capable of experiencing the magical experience of an epiphany when the solution to a problem seems to appear from nowhere.
The Lightbulb Came On
Light bulb, eureka moments come naturally during times of solitude without any distractions from other people or things. It happens in those perfect conditions for unconscious creativity and clarity to emerge from the darkness. When you struggle to let go of the control of your thoughts, the creative process within your mind gets stuck. You must clear your mind and rise above your mind’s chaos because if you don’t your thinking becomes blinkered and any solutions to your problems are therefore limited. Connect with nature, meditate, clear your mind, and wait for inspiration to guide you out of the darkness and into the new light of the day.
