Description

New Year Yoga Retreat in Sweden

December 30, 2026 to January 2, 2027

Join us for four days and three nights of yoga, meditation, delicious food, and saunas in the forests of southern Sweden during the depths of winter.

This is an important time of year to rest, hibernate, and reflect. These four days will give you the space to do exactly that. Begin the new year feeling clearer, stronger, and rested after days of yoga, writing, saunas, walks, campfires, and perhaps a few dips in the icy lake.

Our Wild Sweden retreats have twice been named among the “Top Affordable European Yoga Retreats” by Condé Nast Traveller, in both 2025 and 2026.

We are staying at an intimate yoga retreat centre tucked away in the pine forest, two hours west of Stockholm. The venue is home to a welcoming yoga community of staff and volunteers, with an ethos built around community and sustainability. It has a beautiful lake, a floating sauna, and views across the surrounding forest.

Accommodation is simple and shared, with a variety of solo, twin, and triple rooms. There is heating and electricity, while showers and bathrooms are shared between guests. The facilities are intentionally modest and lovingly cared for.

You’ll find light-filled yoga shalas, large decks overlooking the lake, a cosy library for colder evenings, and a floating wood-fired sauna, all nestled in the heart of the Swedish pine forest.

We will practise yoga in the large yoga shala overlooking the lake in the mornings and afternoons. There will also be guided morning meditation, silent breakfasts, and optional guest workshops. These may include art, poetry, sound baths, breathwork, or aromatherapy.

All sessions are optional and designed to support different levels of experience and ability. Outside of yoga, you are free to rest, read, walk, explore, enjoy the sauna, or take an optional dip in the lake.

Slow down with us for four days and immerse yourself in a restful, wild lifestyle in one of Sweden’s most beautiful landscapes. Previous guests have said that simply thinking about the lake after returning home helps transport them back to a calm and peaceful place inside.

What You’ll Do

This will be a slow, wild retreat with peace, quiet, and space to reflect. As always on our retreats, you are invited to take a digital detox and give yourself the headspace you came for. You will not be told off for using your phone. It is simply an invitation.

Settle in on the first day with a snack before meditation and our opening circle.

Day one focuses on the earth element, grounding, and rest. We will practise yin yoga before dinner and yoga Nidra afterwards in preparation for a good night’s sleep.

Day two begins with morning yoga and meditation followed by a delicious breakfast. Breakfast will be silent, allowing time for reflection and writing while you absorb the beautiful surroundings.

There will be plenty of free time for long walks, sauna sessions, or naps around lunch. In the afternoon, we will have an optional workshop with one of The Wild Times’ long-term collaborators, followed by yin yoga and dinner.

Day three begins with morning meditation, breakfast, and free time. The afternoon brings more yin yoga, sauna time, and delicious food. On the final evening, we will gather around a bonfire outside, complete with marshmallows.

End your days with sauna sessions and optional cool dips in the lake, leaving you feeling lighter, revitalised, and a little bit wilder.

Our final morning includes yoga, breakfast, and free time before lunch and our closing circle. If you can, we recommend spending a night in Stockholm before or after the retreat.

The yoga classes are themed around the natural elements, helping you connect with nature by embodying their qualities throughout the practice.

All activities are optional but encouraged. You can nap, read, walk, use the sauna, or explore. The Wild Times is always a guilt-free, judgment-free zone.

Where You’ll Stay

Our venue is an intimate yoga community and retreat centre in the middle of the Swedish forest.

“I have been looking for a wonderfully wild place to offer retreats in Sweden, and I have found it!” – Jen

All the energy used at the retreat centre comes from renewable sources, while most of its food is organic and locally and sustainably sourced.

The venue consists of seven buildings surrounded by nature. It includes two yoga shalas, ten twin bedrooms, four triple bedrooms, one four-bed dormitory, three separate huts, a floating sauna, and a lake.

The project began in 2005 with a vision of living in communion with nature and dedicating life to community and yoga. What started as a community of artists and yogis living in nature gradually opened its doors to retreat guests.

The forests of Bergslagen around Skinnskatteberg are home to some of Sweden’s remarkable wildlife. The surrounding landscape provides habitat for moose, beavers, wolves, bears, lynx, and owls.

Rooms are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Options include triple rooms with a single bed and bunk bed, twin rooms, and solo-occupancy rooms containing two twin beds. Shower rooms and toilets are shared and located within the main accommodation cabin.

The retreat centre is lovingly supported by a team of international volunteers who come from around the world to live, serve, and grow in community. They help create the warm and welcoming atmosphere guests experience throughout their stay.

What You’ll Eat

The food is delicious, abundant, and wholesome. It is vegetarian and vegan, Ayurvedic-inspired, mainly organic, and largely gluten-free.

The kitchen sits at the heart of the retreat centre. Its team carefully selects ingredients and food combinations designed to keep you nourished and energised throughout your stay.

All meals, snacks, and hot drinks are provided. A self-service drink station with herbal teas and coffee will be available throughout the retreat.

Please note that this is an alcohol-free retreat.

Most dietary requirements can be accommodated when provided in your booking form before the retreat.
