Prepare for the moment you keep rehearsing
You know something difficult is coming. Perhaps you need to have a conversation you have postponed, set a boundary, begin a new job, navigate a breakup, move somewhere unfamiliar, or spend time in a family dynamic that brings out old patterns.
You may already be replaying the situation in your mind. What should you say? How will the other person respond? What happens if you freeze, become defensive, or abandon what matters to you?
Enter the Difficult Situation Dojo gives you a place to prepare. Across two private coaching sessions, Kate Nasuti helps you examine the situation, identify the pressure points, and create a practical plan for approaching the moment with greater clarity.
Why call it a dojo?
A dojo is a place where people practise before they face a real test. You build skill through preparation, attention, and repetition.
Kate applies that idea to difficult moments in everyday life. Instead of hoping that you will find the right words under pressure, you can examine the situation beforehand and choose how you want to respond.
The goal is not to control the outcome or predict every reaction. The goal is to enter the situation knowing what matters to you and how you want to conduct yourself.
Situations you can bring to the dojo
This coaching package can help you prepare for:
– A difficult personal or professional conversation
– A boundary you need to communicate
– A breakup or change in a relationship
– A new job, promotion, or workplace challenge
– A move or other major transition
– A demanding family visit or gathering
– A decision that requires courage
– An event that has triggered avoidance or overthinking
– A recurring situation you want to handle differently
You can arrive with a specific event in mind or with a pattern that keeps appearing in different parts of your life.
What you will work on
Kate helps you turn a stressful situation into specific questions and choices. Depending on what you bring, you may explore:
> What is happening? Separate observable facts from assumptions, predictions, and fears.
> What matters to you. Identify the values you want your choices and behavior to reflect.
> What you can influence. Focus your effort on your own preparation, communication, boundaries, and actions.
> What may trigger you. Anticipate the moments when you are most likely to withdraw, overexplain, become reactive, or lose sight of your intentions.
> What you want to say or do. Develop language and actions that fit the situation and feel natural to you.
> What support you need. Decide how you will prepare beforehand and take care of yourself afterward.
How the two sessions work
The package includes two private 60-minute virtual coaching sessions across one month.
During the sessions, you and Kate will examine the difficult situation from several angles. You will identify the thoughts and behaviors that may get in the way, connect your choices to your values, and build a plan for the moments before, during, and after the event.
Kate will also create an individualized behavior plan based on your situation. Between-session support gives you a way to continue the work as the situation develops.
The exact focus and timing of the sessions will depend on the event you are preparing for and the support you need.
The approaches Kate uses
Kate draws on her training in Applied Behavior Analysis and principles informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, often called ACT.
Applied Behavior Analysis examines what happens before and after a behavior and what may be reinforcing a repeated response. In coaching, this perspective can help you notice the conditions that make avoidance, people-pleasing, overthinking, or emotional reactivity more likely.
ACT-informed coaching helps you make room for uncomfortable thoughts and feelings while choosing actions that reflect your values. You do not need to eliminate fear before you have an important conversation or take a difficult step.
If spiritual reflection fits your beliefs, Kate can also incorporate practices that help you connect with your inner wisdom and sense of meaning. Tell her what feels useful and what does not.
This is a coaching experience rather than psychotherapy or clinical behavioral treatment.
What your package includes
– Two private coaching sessions. Meet virtually with Kate for two 60-minute Google Meet sessions across one month.
– An individualized behavior plan. Leave with a plan shaped around the situation, your likely pressure points, and the responses you want to practise.
– Preparation for the entire experience. Consider what you need before the event, how you want to respond during it, and how you will reflect afterward.
– Support between sessions. Continue working with Kate as questions or developments emerge during the month.
What you may take away
By the end of the package, you may have:
– A clearer understanding of the situation
– A defined purpose for the conversation or event
– Language for expressing a boundary or request
– A plan for handling predictable reactions
– Strategies for responding when emotions rise
– A stronger connection between your values and actions
– A way to evaluate what happened without attacking yourself
The other person and the circumstances remain outside your control. Your preparation can still help you respond more deliberately.
If self-doubt makes difficult moments harder, Plentiful’s guide to building confidence that lasts offers practical exercises you can use alongside coaching.
Is this the right kind of support?
This package may suit you when you want focused coaching around a defined situation and feel ready to examine your own choices and behavior.
Coaching does not replace mental health treatment, legal advice, workplace investigation, mediation, or support for immediate safety concerns. Seek qualified help when the situation involves abuse, threats, serious psychological distress, or a matter requiring legal or clinical expertise.
Walk in with a plan
A difficult moment can still feel uncomfortable after you prepare for it. Preparation gives you something steadier than wishful thinking: a clearer purpose, language you have considered, and a plan for returning to your values when pressure rises.
Bring Kate the situation you are facing. Together, you will turn it into something you can examine, practice, and approach with greater intention.
